Spring into Regionals Long Course Qualifier Open Meet

 Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd March 2026

Sandwell Aquatics Centre, Smethwick Birmingham

Pool: 50m (Long Course), 10 lanes, electronic timing, anti-wave lane ropes, backstroke ledges

• Age groups: 9 years to 16 years & over
• Age as at: 31st December 2026
• Events: 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m
• Important: 9–10 year olds are not permitted to enter 400m events

This is an upper-cut meet, meaning swimmers must not be faster than the published qualifying times. Any entries submitted with times faster than the cut-off will be rejected. 

• Four sessions across the weekend (session timings to be confirmed once entries close)
• Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group/event
• Overall awards for Top Junior (13 & under), Top Senior (14 & over) and Top Visiting Club

• £9 per event

Due to the popularity of this meet, it has filled within 24 hours in previous years. To ensure we are ready to submit entries as soon as Sandwell open their system, we will be running the following club process:

• Club entry window: Today until Saturday 31st January
• All entries must be finalised by this date so they can be prepared in advance
• This is a long course (50m) meet, which may affect event choices and expectations
  

• Swimmers should speak to Josh directly, or
• Parents/carers should email Josh at headcoach@owswim.org to discuss and agree on the events your swimmer would like to enter
  

This step ensures that:

• Event choices are appropriate
• Both the swimmer and coaching team are happy with the selection.
  

Once this discussion has taken place:

• You will be sent the Jot Form entry link to formally submit your swimmer’s events and payment details
  

Please note that once our club entries are prepared and submitted, late changes or additional events cannot be guaranteed due to the meet's popularity.

• Some parents are considering sharing hotel accommodation if swimmers are competing across both days. This is not mandatory, but may help reduce travel back and forth over the weekend.
  
• On Saturday evening, we will be organising a club meal for swimmers and parents who wish to attend – further details will follow
  
• Swimmers competing at this event will not be expected at training Friday 20th March.
